Free digital skills workshops for Solomon Islanders

3/11/2020 Update: The first workshop (Learning to Code with Python and Django) is now full! Spots are still available for all other future workshops.

Pacific Connect is excited to announce a free series of workshops, mentoring sessions and meetups for Solomon Islanders wanting to develop and improve their digital skills and pursue careers in technology. The program is particularly geared towards women who are passionate about or want to get involved in the ICT sector. 

Starting in November 2020, the activities will provide Solomon Islanders the opportunity to learn modern software development languages and approaches such as Python and Javascript and gain skills in e-commerce, learn from presentations and peers, and connect with a growing community of people interested and working in the technology industry across Australia and the Pacific. 

The Program 

Full day workshops

  • Learning to Code with Python and Django (November 2020)
  • Introduction to e-Commerce (December 2020)
  • Learning to Code with JavaScript (March 2021)

Meetups and Mentoring Sessions

  • Technology focused Meetups in November and December 2020 and March 2021 where you will learn from presentations and peers
  • Open mentoring sessions for one hour before each Meetup where you can get advice on your digital projects
