IDEAS EXCHANGE
Our region is undergoing an unprecedented technological transformation, making it an ideal time to discuss and shape its regional future. Pacific Connect’s flagship event, co-hosted by the International Centre for Democratic Partnerships and Global Access Partners, brought together 63 active Community members from Australia and the Pacific to build on projects developed and networks formed at past events, while establishing new ideas and new connections.
It was a great opportunity for me and a fantastic week of collaboration and networking with the Pacific Connect family. I have noticed a vibrant and enthusiastic team with greater energy than expected.
I learned a lot of new things from every single events organised. I believe Pacific Connect has a great potential to create and drive change in the pacific going forward with its unique way and style of work.
Celebrating the depth and successes of initiatives undertaken in the last year and gaining new connections were the key features of ICDP’s most successful event thus far, the Pacific Connect Ideas Exchange. Over three days, 63 current and emerging leaders from Australia, Fiji, PNG, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu engaged in project pitch workshops, study tour visits to Sydney’s premier innovation hubs and networking events, culminating with the Ideas Exchange Dinner and Plenary on Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 September.
As an emerging entrepreneur I felt like it was the best professional development I have done! I learnt so much from the sessions and especially from the other entrepreneurs in the room. There is already movement happening for collaborations in the Solomons, Samoa and PNG for myself and my company! As someone who often works alone and in small teams, I really found being amongst other positive people who are dreaming big dreams and making them happen totally re-energising.
