Next ICDP Dialogue Speaker: Shani Jayamanne

Morningstar Director and Investment Specialist Shani Jayamanne will be the guest speaker at the upcoming ICDP Dialogue on Financial Literacy, and her book, Invest Your Way, gives a great sense of what to expect.

Co-authored with her Morningstar colleague and fellow Investing Compass podcast host Mark LaMonica, the book takes a refreshing approach. Instead of telling you what to invest in, it focuses on you as an investor. The idea is straightforward: there is no single “right” strategy. What matters is building an approach that fits your goals, your situation and how you think about money.

The book walks through key concepts such as diversification, risk and asset allocation in a way that is easy to follow, even for those new to investing. It is practical without being overwhelming, and avoids jargon where possible. Just as importantly, it helps readers understand the habits and mindset needed to stay consistent over time.

There is also a personal side to the book. Both authors share their own experiences, including how they came to investing and how their thinking has evolved. That makes the content feel relatable and grounded in real life rather than theory, particularly for ICDP members navigating different financial contexts across the Pacific.

Invest Your Way is available as an audiobook, e-book and through major retailers including  Amazon and Booktopia. For ongoing insights, readers can also follow Shani’s weekly column on Morningstar.com.au or listen to the Investing Compass podcast on any platform.

For anyone interested in building confidence with money, it is a practical and approachable place to start.

We are honoured to have Shani present at the ICDP Dialogue on Financial Literacy, where she will share these insights with the ICDP network.

About the Authors of Invest Your Way

Mark Lamonica, Director of Personal Finance at Morningstar Australia, is a respected finance media commentator. Mark’s childhood experiences with his father’s banking career and his own early investing led him to believe that investing was a natural and accessible practice. This belief was challenged when his highly educated mother struggled with investing after his parents’ divorce.

Shani Jayamanne is a Director and Investment Specialist at Morningstar Australia, co-hosting the Investing Compass podcast and contributing to personal finance publications. As a child, Shani migrated from Sri Lanka and learned about investing as a means of transforming her life while working at a fund manager. She made her first investment at 23 and now aims to  help others unfamiliar with the investment pathway.
