Our Oceania: Forging a Path in Uncertain Times

As a group of women, each of us attended the Brisbane talanoa with our own dreams and hopes for our lives and for our families. And while the road ahead is marked with challenges and unknowns, it is my prayer that these dreams are realised for each and every one of us.

Brisbane ‘Social Entrepreneurship’ Dialogue Communiqué

We, the participants of the Pacific Connect Pacific Entrepreneurs Dialogue “Develop Your Ideas – Grow your Impact”, met in Brisbane, Australia on 16-18 February 2020 at the invitation of the International Centre for Democratic Partnerships (ICDP), with the support of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

Developing ideas and growing impact in Brisbane

Our largest cohort to participate at a Brisbane-based Dialogue will come together on Sunday 16 to Tuesday 18 February to take part in the first Pacific Connect Dialogue for 2020, run by the International Centre for Democratic Partnerships (ICDP) with support from the Australian government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

Building Australia-Pacific Partnerships through Entrepreneurship

"I found this to be a fitting end to this dialogue because in a way, all 20 plus participants were mini Fishburner vessels that were sailing out in the hopes of collecting as much supplies of ideas, knowledge and networks to take back home to supply our respective island nations." - Grace Mungkaje from PNG shares her experience at the Brisbane Dialogue on Financial Education.

Pauline Benson’s Inspirational Entrepreneurial Story

"My journey started here as most of yours does today, where will your journey take you? That’s up to you today." Founder of Pacific Finds, Pauline Benson, shared her inspiring entrepreneurial story at our last Dialogue in Brisbane.

Looking back at 2019

As we count down to the end of 2019, the team at ICDP thought it would be a great idea to take stock and reflect on all of this year’s achievements and programme developments. Another productive and rewarding year for our small team, and we are honoured to have shared it with our inspiring and close-knit Community throughout the Pacific and across Australia.

Building peaceful partnerships in the Pacific

I attended the International Centre for Democratic Partnership's (ICDP) Pacific Connect Financial Education Dialogue to boost my financial knowledge, and to learn more about the Pacific Islands and the people who call them home.

Reflections from a facilitator on a Tonga Dialogue

With a 6:45pm departure from Sydney, and a two-hour time difference, we did not arrive in Nuku'alofa until 2:00am. We were still met with a full terminal of people ready to joyously welcome home what appeared to be half a plane full of Tongan seasonal workers returning from several months in Australia. A very noisy and colourful welcome to Tonga!
