
A Story in the Ordinary
In a pioneering event for the International Centre for Democratic Partnerships (ICDP), more than 120 Community and new members came together on 25 June for the Pacific Connect Virtual Dialogue on Storytelling and Digital Media. Storytellers, change makers, business leaders, SME owners, technology experts and academics came together for a half-day talanoa, sharing stories, taking in lessons from the Pacific’s brightest storytelling talent and networking in virtual and physical hubs across seven countries.

Sharing inspiring stories and building new networks in the next Pacific Connect Network Dialogue
In partnership with Community member Sarah Mak and the wonderful team at Folktale, we’re bringing together Community members and new faces from Australia and the Pacific through digital means for our next Virtual Dialogue. The half-day Storytelling and Digital Media Dialogue, to be held this Thursday 25 June, will see the Community learn the ins and outs of storytelling, develop enduring connections, and come together for new opportunities in the Pacific.

Passion for ‘Digital Pacific’ – The gap in the Pacific
Digitalisation is progressing everywhere. It’s unstoppable. This is the biggest gap in the pacific and we have to find the best way to use it, leverage water utilities data and data from society. For example, that weather is a good indicator of demand, and freezing and thawing have an influence on pipe breaks. All data combined will result in improved operations and asset management information that is decision based.

Emerging leaders and change makers discuss tech and water sustainability in Honiara
The Pacific Connect program continues to build on its online engagement through convening the first of many planned Virtual Dialogues. The theme for the Dialogue was Technology and Water Sustainability: Building Water Resilience in the Solomon Islands, and was held on Thursday 28 May.

Water Sustainability the focus of first Pacific Connect Virtual Dialogue
The International Centre for Democratic Partnerships (ICDP) will hold its first Pacific Connect Virtual Dialogue tomorrow, Thursday 28 May, with 28 Australians and Pacific Islanders coming together to network, brainstorm solutions and collaborate on project ideas that relate to technology and water sustainability challenges in the Solomon Islands.

Pacific Connect holds Virtual Workshop on Blockchain
Technology enthusiasts, Blockchain users, Pacific Connect Community members and the public came together last Tuesday 12 May for the a Virtual Workshop on Blockchain technologies. The 28 guests from nine countries participated in the hour-long informative session on the subject, hosted by Kenneth Katafono.

ICDP is running its second Pacific Connect Virtual Workshop on Blockchain on 12 May 2020 (12pm FJT / 10am AEST). This event is open to Pacific Connect Community members and the general public. Applications close Friday 08 May 2020.

Making lifelong friends in Brisbane with Pacific Connect
By the end of the second day, I already knew I had made lifelong friends and partnerships in business. More importantly, I met like-minded people willing to work hard to promote the Pacific and all the wonderful talents we acquire as a collective.

Understanding the power of my story with Pacific Connect
Being a person with disability, I found this to be very helpful in raising awareness for employment among persons with disabilities. The enterprise empowers persons with disabilities to understand that if you do not get assisted by government to find employment, you can always come together as a group and start a business. That’s powerful.
