Tonga Pacific Connect Hub Coordinator, Seluvaia Kauvaka, provides an overview of ICDP’s relationship with TWICT.
We interviewed Torika Kalman, a Pacific Connect Community member from Vanuatu, about her journey with the program and how it’s helped her as an emerging leader develop connections and upskill.
The Pacific Tech Academy was established in October 2020 and is a collaboration between Pacific Connect and Common Code. The Academy aims to operate across six Pacific Islands; PNG, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Samoa, Tonga and Fiji.
The participants of the GAP Pacific and Small Island Nations Summit, convened online on 18 June 2021 to discuss a ‘blue recovery’ for the Pacific in the wake of COVID-19. We also considered the need for an environmental, social and governance (ESG) framework to underpin greater regional resilience, and worked towards a shared vision for the region’s future.

Thirty-six creatives, entrepreneurs and industry experts came together for a half-day talanoa on ‘fostering a sustainable Pacific music industry’, the latest creative industries Dialogue for the talented and multi-faceted Pacific Connect Community. Music is unrivalled in its capacity to elicit powerful emotions, tell stories, preserve culture and unite listeners. Music continues to play an integral role in Pasifika societies and, with everyone carrying a portable device, the industry has never been more relevant.

The Pacific Connect Program continues to build opportunities for Pasifika emerging leaders, with a ‘Women in Aquaculture & Fisheries ’ Virtual Dialogue held on 9 June.
One week ago, over 120 delegates from 16 countries came together online to discuss Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) issues at the inaugural Summit for the Pacific and Small Island Nations, hosted by Global Access Partners. ICDP was delighted to support the event, along with the OECD. Fourteen emerging leaders from the Pacific Connect Community spent the half-day Summit engaging with high-level leaders in government, business, academia, and the non-profit sector.
