Project Spotlight: Less Than A Container Load Coca Export Project

On Friday May 13, the first container of cocoa beans was sent to chocolate makers in the United Kingdom under the innovative Less Than A Container Load pilot. This container contains cocoa beans from 50 farmer groups and consolidators across Guadalcanal and Isabel, and is the first sign of success that the Less Than A Container Load project.

Effective Social Media Workshops kick-start 2022 program

Local small business owners and entrepreneurs from Lae, Papua New Guinea, and Port Vila, Vanuatu, participated in two Pacific Connect workshops throughout January and February to improve their online business strategies and promotion skills.  Over the past two weeks, eight participants from Lae and 21 from Port Vila have graduated from our latest ‘Effective Social Media’ Workshops, delivered by Coconut Wireless.

Discussing regional resilience with the inaugural GAP Summit on the Pacific and Small Island Nations

One week ago, over 120 delegates from 16 countries came together online to discuss Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) issues at the inaugural Summit for the Pacific and Small Island Nations, hosted by Global Access Partners. ICDP was delighted to support the event, along with the OECD. Fourteen emerging leaders from the Pacific Connect Community spent the half-day Summit engaging with high-level leaders in government, business, academia, and the non-profit sector.

Prioritising mental and physical wellbeing in the Pacific

Be it at home or at work, our world has changed irrevocably. As we navigate our way to a ‘new normal’, our mental and physical wellbeing has an increased focus. To help spotlight inspiring women working in this field, the Pacific Connect program held its latest virtual dialogue on 15 April, bringing together 37 emerging leaders from Australia and the Pacific. The delegates, representing various fields, heard from three entrepreneurs and an academic on practical and technology-based solutions to improve mental and physical wellbeing for individuals in the workplace and personally.

Increasing opportunities for emerging leaders in our region

The Pacific Connect Program is ramping up its engagement with emerging leaders from Australian and throughout the Pacific over the coming months, with workshops, dialogues and professional development courses available to new and existing Program members.
