Being a person with disability, I found this to be very helpful in raising awareness for employment among persons with disabilities. The enterprise empowers persons with disabilities to understand that if you do not get assisted by government to find employment, you can always come together as a group and start a business. That’s powerful.
As a group of women, each of us attended the Brisbane talanoa with our own dreams and hopes for our lives and for our families.And while the road ahead is marked with challenges and unknowns, it is my prayer that these dreams are realised for each and every one of us.
“This life skills training or workshop’s ultimate goal is to help participants be self-sustainable in this economy. Participants who undergo this workshop were able to explore different techniques and be able to apply the skills as preferred. Most importantly, the attainment of business and entrepreneurial skills for self-employment.”
Pacific Connect invites you to join other ambitious and accomplished change-makers at its annual Network Dialogue in Honiara, Solomon Islands. The two-day event will bring together leaders from the Pacific and Australia to discuss how digital connectivity and emerging technologies can expand business opportunities in water sustainability.
We, the participants of the Pacific Connect Pacific Entrepreneurs Dialogue “Develop Your Ideas – Grow your Impact”, met in Brisbane, Australia on 16-18 February 2020 at the invitation of the International Centre for Democratic Partnerships (ICDP), with the support of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
Our largest cohort to participate at a Brisbane-based Dialogue will come together on Sunday 16 to Tuesday 18 February to take part in the first Pacific Connect Dialogue for 2020, run by the International Centre for Democratic Partnerships (ICDP) with support from the Australian government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
“I found this to be a fitting end to this dialogue because in a way, all 20 plus participants were mini Fishburner vessels that were sailing out in the hopes of collecting as much supplies of ideas, knowledge and networks to take back home to supply our respective island nations.” – Grace Mungkaje from PNG shares her experience at the Brisbane Dialogue on Financial Education.
As we count down to the end of 2019, the team at ICDP thought it would be a great idea to take stock and reflect on all of this year’s achievements and programme developments. Another productive and rewarding year for our small team, and we are honoured to have shared it with our inspiring and close-knit Community throughout the Pacific and across Australia.
The International Centre for Democratic Partnerships (ICDP) hosted a second dialogue in Port Vila, Vanuatu from 15-16 July 2019. The focus was on digital marketplaces and online services. The report is available for reading.
