ICDP holds virtual Pacific Connect Ideas Exchange

Project updates, new ideas shared, and new connections made were key highlights of this year’s flagship event the Pacific Connect Ideas Exchange. Activities began in the week leading up to the event, and on the morning of 10 September around 70 Pacific Connect Community members from seven countries logged in to participate in a day-long virtual talanoa.

The Ideas Exchange goes virtual

It has been a challenging year, to say the least! ICDP is very fortunate that it can bring more than 110 members from eight countries of the Pacific Connect Community together tomorrow to reflect and continue to share knowledge at the annual Pacific Connect Ideas Exchange.

Discussing the digitalisation of agriculture across the Pacific

Fifty-two network members and subject matter experts came together on 29 July for a Pacific Connect talanoa on the digitalisation of agriculture throughout the region. The latest network dialogue in the program focused on digital agriculture initiatives currently being undertaken by Pacific Connect Community members in Fiji, Lae (PNG) and Solomon Islands. Following on from the ground-breaking Storytelling & Digital Media Virtual Dialogue, the Digital AgriTech Virtual Dialogue saw Australians mix with their Pasifika counterparts online while delegates in Honiara, Lae and Suva came together at our community networking hubs.

Agriculture digitalisation next on the Pacific Connect agenda

The Pacific Connect Virtual Dialogue series developed by the International Centre for Democratic Partnerships (ICDP) continues tomorrow with a Network Dialogue on ‘digital agriculture across the Pacific’. Nearly 60 participants from 7 countries will come together for the half-day talanoa, with over half joining from ‘Community Hubs’ in Honiara, Lae and Suva.

A Story in the Ordinary

In a pioneering event for the International Centre for Democratic Partnerships (ICDP), more than 120 Community and new members came together on 25 June for the Pacific Connect Virtual Dialogue on Storytelling and Digital Media. Storytellers, change makers, business leaders, SME owners, technology experts and academics came together for a half-day talanoa, sharing stories, taking in lessons from the Pacific’s brightest storytelling talent and networking in virtual and physical hubs across seven countries.

Sharing inspiring stories and building new networks in the next Pacific Connect Network Dialogue

In partnership with Community member Sarah Mak and the wonderful team at Folktale, we’re bringing together Community members and new faces from Australia and the Pacific through digital means for our next Virtual Dialogue. The half-day Storytelling and Digital Media Dialogue, to be held this Thursday 25 June, will see the Community learn the ins and outs of storytelling, develop enduring connections, and come together for new opportunities in the Pacific.

Passion for ‘Digital Pacific’ – The gap in the Pacific

Digitalisation is progressing everywhere. It’s unstoppable. This is the biggest gap in the pacific and we have to find the best way to use it, leverage water utilities data and data from society. For example, that weather is a good indicator of demand, and freezing and thawing have an influence on pipe breaks. All data combined will result in improved operations and asset management information that is decision based.

Technology & Water Sustainability Dialogue Communique

We, the participants of the Pacific Connect Network Dialogue on Technology & Water Sustainability, met on 28 May 2020 online and in Honiara, Solomon Islands at the invitation of the International Centre for Democratic Partnerships (ICDP) with the support of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
